Home Owner's Insurance
It is a good idea to have a solid home owner’s insurance policy in place prior to applying for a home loan. All lenders currently require that a policy be in place and active prior to the funding of a loan.

Do your homework before you purchase a policy. Ensure that you have enough coverage for the items that would need to be replaced should you suffer a loss. Know which items in your home would be covered under the “replacement costs” portion of the policy.

Prepare a list of “What if” questions for your agent. Be sure that you are fully aware of the deductible portion of your policy. The higher deductible you select, the lower your premium costs. Make sure that the deductible amount is one that you could afford if you should need to make a claim on your policy

Prepare to shop around for your insurance. It is a commodity that every home owner needs, and rates and policy features will vary in this competitive market.
