America's 10 Favorite Structures and Buildings
The White house and the Empire State Building are at the top of the list of American's favorite types of architecture.


R.K. Stewart, president of the American Institute of Architects explains that American's choice of the Empire State Building illustrates that when asked, people' choices reflect the buildings and designs that symbolize innovation and community spirit. The Institute conducted the survey to mark the organization's 150th birthday.

Of the top ten, 6 of the choices are from our Nation's capital, Washington, D.C. Here is the top ten listing:

1. Empire State Building, New York
2. The White House, Washington D.C.
3. Washington National Cathedral, Washington, D. C.
4. Jefferson Memorial, Washington, D. C.
5. Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, CA
6. U.S. Capitol, Washington, D. C.
