Recruiting Hampered by Housing Concerns
A recent survey found that 3 out of 10 employees turned down job opportunities that required relocation due to housing cost and mortgage concerns.
A report published by Prudential Relocation found that 46% of companies report that recruiting employees is becoming more of a challenge due to the cooling housing market.

Companies are finding potential candidates are voicing more concerns regarding the state of the housing market in the area which they are to relocate. If the assignment is to be temporary; for example 1-5 years, applicants do not want to sell their homes at a loss due to a sluggish market.

Many companies have to cut back on the moving compensation that they offer, making moves even more challenging. In 2005, 69% of employers were offering 100% reimbursement for moving expenses, while in 2006, that number dropped to only 58%.
