"Vertical Neighborhoods" - A Possible Solution to Urban Sprawl
More and more developers are designing what is known as "vertical neighborhoods" to satisfy the demands for downtown living
options when availability of undeveloped land parcels is scarce in major urban areas.
These types of high-rise developments include everything residents need to live in one complex. The buildings feature residential units along with retail, along with a wide variety of amenities.
MGM Mirage in Las Vegas is currently constructing a vertical neighborhood right on the strip on a 66-acre parcel of land. The complex is called CityCenter, and includes a 2,700 condominiums, retail space, and over 500,000 square feet of retail and office space.
Vertical neighborhoods are appearing in cites across the nation.
