Below are some of the most common quick fixes to ensure that your home looks its best to sell:
Clean up the entire exterior of your house. Put a fresh coat of paint on your front door. Add some potted plants around. Repair any cracks in walkways.
During showings, turn every light on in the home, and play pleasant music on all radios or on your sound system.
Remove a lot of your personal items and overall clutter. Consider renting a storage unit to hold your things during the selling period.
Repair any visible problems that could be red flags to a potential buyer. Repaint stained walls, repair damaged corners, remove carpet stains.
A quick fix to an older kitchen or bathroom floor is to use peel and stick floor tiles to freshen up the area.
Repaint all public rooms of the house that will be the main focus of potential buyer's attention: Kitchen, living room & dining room. Keep in mind, the colors you chose to repaint with may not be the most appealing to buyers. Repaint with soft, neutral tones.
Refrain from doing a lot of cooking while showing your home; especially preparations which use strong spices or frying.
Keep all pet areas extremely clean during showings. Litter box odors can be quite a turn off to potential buyers.
