Unscrupulous Companies offer Mortgage Bailouts
Beware: as foreclosures rise around the country, so does the number of companies that are offering bail-out assistance; and not all of them can be trusted.
Home owners that are finding themselves in trouble with their loans should be wary of looking to companies for help; as they could wind up paying big for help that they could have easily attained on their own. Some companies do so little as to charge a hefty fee and then quickly disappear, doing nothing to truly help the troubled homeowner.

It is advised that homeowners carefully screen companies first and be aware of these precautions:

Never pay any hefty fees upfront to any organization or person offering assistance.

It is advised that an independent lawyer review all contracts prior to signing on the dotted line.

Investigate accredited financial counseling institutions. Look to the Department of Housing and Development's Web site for information.
