Of persons polled in a recent survey, 34% put a decent and affordable place to live as their top family concern, as well as personal priority. 56% placed housing as one of their top priorities. 63% of the persons polled felt that the availability of affordable housing in their communities was very important while 27% felt that it was only somewhat important.
More and more Americans are being faced with this problem of finding themselves homeless. Every night, approximately 754,000 people in this country are homeless. People who earn only the minimum wage cannot even afford the rent on a one-bedroom apartment anywhere around the country.
Even though the country has made advances with regards to housing, far too many seniors and families continue to go on without a decent place to call home. The president of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment calls for the need for affordable housing to become a major priority for the leaders of this country.
7 out of 10 persons surveyed stated that they would cast their vote for the candidate that presented a solid plan to provide more affordable housing for Americans. 75% would vote for the candidate whose ideas as to how to provide additional affordable housing would help influence how they would eventually cast their vote.
