Higher Rates Have no Effect on Loan Application Volume
Mortgage applications were up last week in spite of slightly higher interest rates. The Market Composite Index was up .6% on a seasonally adjusted basis. Applications rose 1.4%, on an unadjusted basis, compared to last week and were up 1.4% compared to 2006.

Applications for refinancing were down to 41.5% of total applications from 43.4% last week.

Average interest rates for a 30 year fixed mortgage went up to 6.14%; up from 6.13% last week. 15 year fixed rate mortgages went up to 5.83%; up from 5.82% last week. One year ARMs were unchanged at 5.79%
