Enhance Curb Appeal: Six Ways to Spruce up Your Yard
Barb Schwarz, founder of the International Association of Home Stagers says that if a house looks good on the
outside, potential buyers are more likely to want to see what is on the inside.
Here are a few of Barb Schwarz's suggestions for adding appeal to a yard.
Add some color. For example, plant some brightly blooming impatiens along the walkway.
Trim surrounding greenery. Trim the trees from the bottom so they create a type of canopy without blocking the view. Trim plantings that are near the foundation plantings from the top to keep view of windows clear.
Mow, weed and edge the lawn. If the yard is not well-manicured, potential buyers may perceive that the inside is the same. Pay attention to details.
De-clutter the yard. Remove children's toys and limit the number of hanging planters and yard accessories.
Purchase a new welcome mat to dress up the front door.
