Crime statistics and job loss figures along with risks for extreme weather, environmental hazards, terrorism threats and natural disasters from 379 communities were taken into consideration. The 379 areas were divided into three size categories: large metro areas, mid-size and small town areas.
St. George, Utah has a population of 110,515 put it into the small town group. The town had the lowest crime rate of all along with the lowest unemployment figures.
