Crews Report Initial Landslide Repairs Complete
La Jolla: Crews have completed the installation of shear pins in the slope of Mount Soledad where the October 3 landslide occurred. The construction crews are still hard at work on winterizing the slope in order to prevent any further sliding.
The next phase of the work to be done has yet to be started- repairs on the road and bank which was badly affected by the landslide. This phase involves the removal of approximately four tons of dirt off Desert View Drive, then changing the angle of the existing bank, and installing shear pins and then widening of the alley in order to free up houses that have been locked in due to the slide.

Crews are racing to further stabilize the slope before any more rains occur by removing and regrading dirt which rests on a layer of thin clay called the slide plane.
