Tennis Fed Cup at La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club
La Jolla- The Fed Cup match between the united States and Germany is scheduled to take place February 2-3 at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club. In past years, the club has hosted the event and constructed a special court for the event. William Kellogg, steward of the Tennis club says this year is no different. The court is constructed and grandstands are to be installed soon. After that, lines will be painted on the court and it will be ready for the matches.
The one element which is currently lacking is players for the United States Team. To date, Lindsay Davenport is the only player chosen to be on the team. It is likely that davenport's future teammates will not be selected until after the Australian which is scheduled to begin on Monday, January 14.

United States team captain Zina Garrison has stated that she is hopeful that at least one player with the last name of Williams on the team. Both Venus and Serena Williams are checking to see how the La Jolla matches would fit into their schedules.

The rules of the International Tennis Federation state that teams must be named at least 10 days in advance of the event. Kellogg of the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club feels that the USTA (United States Tennis Association) will wait until the last minute to make their choices.
