San Diego Restaurant Week Comes to La Jolla
It's that time of year. The San Diego Restaurant Week will be taking place in La Jolla and the rest of San Diego County, starting Jan. 27th and will
run until Feb. 1st. Chef's from all over San Diego will be participating and will all be trying to showcase
their best delectables. The event has gone from seventy-five participating restaurants, its first year, to one
hundred and fifty by its fourth. You will be treated to a wonderful pre-determined multi-course meal, at a great price. Prices will
range from 30-40 dollars per person, excluding tax, drinks and tips.

The idea was brought to San Diego by San Diegan, Ingrid Croce, Jim Croce's widow and owner of Croche's, a restaurant
and jazz bar, located in Downtown San Diego. Ingrid made a trip to New York in 2002 and she happened upon a promo week
in the city, where restaurants, for one week only, would offer three course meals for a great bargain, $20.02.
Owner of restaurant, Trattoria Acqua in La Jolla, Michael McGeath who is also board president of the San Diego CA
Restaurant Assoc says, the hardest part was trying to figure out how to staff and event that that. Luckily for him, San Diego
Magazine decided to sponsor the event and was willing to take on a lot of other coordinating responsibilities. Other contributors include
American Express and the San Diego Convention.
Gourmet chefs will not be the only ones participating. If you are in the mood for some "regular" cuisine, you will still be
in luck. There will be plenty of italian pasta dishes, mexican favorites and oriental stir-fry's to go around.
