La Jolla Residents Come on Down, It's Pupping Time
Well, it's that time of year when La Jolla homeowners, as well as vacationers, trek down to Children's Pool in La Jolla to see the Harbor Seals Pupping. For sometime now, the seal population has grown so much that they have literally taken over Children's Pool. Originally, Children's Pool was created to do just what its namesake suggests and that is give an area for children to swim. With a giant wall, preventing waves from crashing in, this area was considered to be quite safe for children to play and swim in the ocean.
Since the seals have basically taken over, there has been much controversy about the issue. Many La Jolla residents want the seals gone, so children can once again play in the ocean. But it appears they the seals are here to stay and why not. There are plenty of other areas for children to play and so many people, including residents of La Jolla and those on vacation, love coming down to see the seals. The area is now roped off to protect the seals, but there is still plenty of room to watch them and there are plenty of opportunities to take some wonderful photographs.
