La Jolla Comes Alive Next Week
What an exciting time it is in La Jolla. This Thursday those of us who live in La Jolla, as well as, the spectators who are traveling from all over the globe, will be treated to the U.S. Open. The is the first time a golf course, owned by the city, will host the legendary tournament. Not only that, a national championship in Southern California has only happened one other time in over half a century.

Torrey Pines will be teeming with people next week and they have the "Friends of Torrey Pines" to thank. The "Friends of Torrey Pines" are a group that raised over three million dollars to have an expert stretch the golf course, put in some bunkers and renovate the greens. In 2002, their efforts made a difference when U.S. Open was awarded to the La Jolla golf course.
