Areas Like La Jolla & Del Mar, Home Sales Are Still Strong
San Diego is on the good end of news today. Recent statistics suggest that homes in La Jolla, or
Del Mar, areas that are close to the ocean have almost no foreclosures. On the other hand, 2/3 of all the homes that were
foreclosed, in San Diego, were all inland. Most of the foreclosures are in Riverside and also in
Sacramento.
La Jolla, on the other hand, is one of a kind. The area has remained consistent through the years, even while the rest of the
country, or even other areas in San Diego, are suffering. A price of a home in La Jolla has gone up each year for the
past ten years. In fact, the price of a La Jolla home hit its highest average ever in 2007, averaging more than
$2.4 million.
The top honors for homes in San Diego that sold for over $2 million went to La Jolla, who beat out Rancho Santa Fe by
one home. The other areas were Coronado next and then Del Mar. Downtown San Diego condos are no exception either with most
of the condos selling for more than $800,000, with only a handful hitting the $2 million mark.
