San Diego Home Sale Controversy
A real estate transaction, where a San Diego County official's significant other sold a home in San Diego to a lawyer who weeks later began working with her husband, is now being looked into by investigators.

Lawyer Gaylord Stewart purchased the San Diego home from Public Defender Timothy Chandler's wife, who is a licensed real estate agent in San Diego.

Stewart claims in an interview that there is no connection between him being hired and his purchase of the home, claiming that there was already an agreement to work for the Public Defender in 2006. However, the house in San Diego was purchased in December of 2006 and Stewart was working for Chandler by February of 2007.

According to the Chandler camp, his rivals are said to be trying to impede his chances of taking over for current Public Defender Steve Carroll, who is planning on retiring soon.
