The work will take place on Broadway, where downtown meets the Bay in San Diego. There will be rows of date palms that tower
nearly 40 feet and will go along Broadway. In between the date palms will be the lighting poles, which have been designed to
favor figures that are dancing. Then there will be the jacaranda trees, which bloom wonderful purple flowers, behind
the date trees and lighting.
For many years now, there have been plans to develop San Diego Bay further, including making the promenade a bit wider. The promenade
was approved a few years ago, however, they did not begin until last year. To make the widening of the promenade a reality, the city
will have to reduce the width of Harbor Drive, with the intention of diverting traffic east of Pacific Highway. The cost of
this project is nearly two hundred thirty million dollars.
