Advice for Today's buyer: Bargain Smart to Get the Best Deal
Effective bargaining is an art, especially when a buyer wants to present a seller with a rock-bottom bid.
Here are some pointers to help buyers - along with their real estate professional put together the best possible offer:

1. The offer has to be palatable to the seller and show that you as the buyer have done your homework.

2. Prospective buyers should keep in mind that any offer that is presented that is more than 10% under the seller's asking price is not customary and is likely to be rejected.

3. Prospective buyers should work closely with their real estate professional to be aware of the other attractive homes in their area of interest and be prepared to move on if their offer is rejected.

4. Prospective buyers should recognize the home's strengths and weaknesses.

5. Prepare a list of reason to share with the seller for offering a lower price.

6. In place of asking for a price to be lowered, prospective buyers should consider negotiating other tangibles such as repairs, and closing costs.
