Scuba Divers Continue to Make the Move to La Jolla Cove
La Jolla Cove is one of the best spots in San Diego for scuba diving. It is perfectly located by the picturesque sandstone cliffs and caves next to the protected ecological preserve. The underwater park is teeming with fish, lobsters and abundant sea life. Often divers will see a couple of harbor seals swim by as well. The nearby submarine canyon and kelp beds provide a nutrient-rich water to the marine life.
The Cove is an excellent place for divers of all diving skills because of the shallow areas, the protected underwater park, caves and the canyon. The depth of the water averages around 14 to 35 feet but the canyon goes much deeper.

La Jolla Cove is also popular place for swimming and snorkeling. There is a restaurant and hot coffee within a block. The park provides a nice changing area, showers, bathrooms and telephones. The lifeguard station is conveniently located at the Cove and is staffed throughout the year starting mid-morning until sunset. Be sure to check with the lifeguard for modifications to the lifeguard coverage.
