Now is a Good Time to Remodel
The time is ripe to make those remodeling dreams reality. Homeowners who contact contractors now to bid on and schedule remodeling work on their homes will have the edge on getting the best bids. Contractors want to get a pipeline of jobs lined up for the coming months; they win by getting the work they need, and you win by getting the project done a good price.
A recent survey focused on five thousand homeowners and has produced what is called the "spring 2009 Remodeling Sentiment Report". The report showed that nearly four times more homeowners answered "probably not" when asked if they were considering remodeling their homes this year as compared to 2007 answers. Sixty-eight percent of people surveyed said that they planned on remodeling in 2009. This figure reflects a drop of eighty-four percent from autumn of 2008 and ninety-two percent from 2007. These numbers show that contractors may have a tougher time lining up those all-important jobs.

Three times as many homeowners look to the lagging economy as a major deterring factor in their decisions to postpone remodeling. Eighty-two percent report that the overall cost of the remodel is holding them back.

If you are a homeowner who is in the position to move forward with plans to remodel, contacting contractors now may give you a stronger negotiating edge.
