California Statewide Home Sales and Median Prices for March 2009
Statewide, an estimated 36,215, resale and new homes were reported sold in the month of March. That figure is up just over 47% from March of last year. For the last nine months, sales have shown an increase on a year-over-year basis.
Buyers paid the median price of $223,000 for a home in March down nearly .5% from February. More notably, this price is down nearly 38% from March of last year when the median price for a home was $358,000.

Nearly 58% of the home sales in March were foreclosures. In 2008, that percentage was 35.5%

A typical mortgage payment of $958 was assumed by buyers in March. This number s down from $976 in February, and significantly lower than the amount of $1712 in March of 2008.
