Dan Martin, SANDAG's project implementation manager stated that they are able to launch the new service earlier than expected because they have received 11 of the 12 new busses that had been ordered earlier than anticipated. MTS will operate the new bus service.
Buses on the new Super Loop route will follow most of the planned super Loop route including UTC mall and University City. Stops which include the UCSD campus will be added in the fall of 2010. Existing bus shelters will be utilized while construction of new facilities commences.
When complete, service will be provided throughout University City, UTC mall and the UCSD campus at 10 - 15 minute intervals between the hours of 5 AM and 10 PM.
In addition, new bus shelters along the route will feature signage which will display a countdown to when the next bus is scheduled to arrive.
