State Receiving Increased Complaints on Loan Modification Firms
The number of complaints filed against Loan Modification Firms to the state has dramatically increased.
Distressed homeowners who are in danger of foreclosure are turning to these types of firms in growing numbers. Many of the complaints filed are in regards to the hefty fees that are charged for little or no results received. Many firms out there in the marketplace are reputable. However, the increasing amount of consumers who state that they have been taken advantage of the California Department of Real Estate is currently shifting its resources to keep up with increasing complaints.

California DRE spokesperson Tom Pool stated that the number of complaints against these firms has gone from very little just last autumn to over five hundred since that time. Pool explains that loan modification companies are sprouting everywhere like weeds and that it is best for homeowners to do their homework on a firm before seeking assistance from them.

Distressed homeowners in danger of foreclosure need to be wary of firms which require large payments up front in order to obtain a loan modification for them. There are many reputable lending institutions which perform loan modifications which offer this service for free.
