Additional Mile Added to San Diego River Walkway
A recently-completed one mile stretch of walkway along the San Diego River in Mission Valley marks an important milestone in the effort to construct a walkway which runs from the historic San Diego county town of Julian to the north and the coastal city neighborhood of Ocean Beach.
Supporters of the walkway project are hopeful that as the path grows so will a greater appreciation for the San Diego River.

Many people do not even realize that there is a river which does indeed run the length of Mission Valley because at many points along its path it is virtually hidden.

This recent section of the walkway was originally slated for completion over one year ago. The need to obtain several permits caused the delay.

The project is being spearheaded by the San Diego River Conservancy. The conservancy contributed two million dollars towards the total three million dollar construction price tag.
