Torrey Pines State Beach Unlikely Close to Budget Cuts
Ronilee Clark, district superintendent for the San Diego Coast District in the State Park Service sated that Torrey pines State Beach and Natural Preserve is struggling to remain viable in light of recent budget cuts, however it is unlikely that the park would close.
The San Diego Coast District includes sixteen parks which are situated between northern Carlsbad and the Mexican border.

Following the passage of the state's new budget, officials of the park have been looking into alternate scenarios as well as additional number crunching in order to continue to maintain the parks with newly-reduced state funds.

Clarks has stated that the parks should have a better idea of what their needs are by the end of the month or sooner.

The Torrey Pines State Beach and Natural Preserve has not shown itself to be a major revenue-generator for the state, which explains why it was placed on the original closure list. However, the park does have high visitation numbers and generates a good amount of revenue. These are a few of the reason Clark feels that the park will be spared from closure.
