The question asking who the park is for was posed to the group by Mr. Michael Stepner, City Park and recreation board member.
The need for three important improvement elements was brought to the group's attention by Stepner. First, improvements need to accommodate more people than presently served, then second and third, management and operational plans.
A long term improvement plan is being created by members of the board. The park is located at 2800 Torrey Pines Scenic Drive in La Jolla and is next to the Saulk Institute. The park features paths which lead down to the ocean.
Groups involved in the planning of the park's future include the members of the advisory board who are appointed by the Mayor of the City of San Diego, environmentalists and representatives form the University of California San Diego (UCSD), and planners from neighboring cities of La Jolla, Del Mar and University City.
At the meeting held on August 20, attendees were asked to complete a form on which they could bring forward their ideas as to how to improve the park. All plans are in the preliminary stages of evaluation and a consulting firm has been retained to provide guidance throughout the process.
