Survey Finds People Moving for Happier Purposes
The reasons for people's relocations are beginning to return to normal across the nation. A recent survey finds that increasing numbers of people have returned to moving for more positive reasons such as purchasing a different home in hopes of improving their lives rather than to avoid the pain of foreclosure.
The survey conducted in June by Relocation.com reported that over 40% of persons surveyed stated that they were in the midst of either shopping for a new home or currently involved in the buying process.

Below is a breakdown of the various reasons why people are moving:

-26% A larger or improved home
-24% A better neighborhood
-12% Live closer to friends or family
-9% Move to area with a lower cost of living
-6% Change in marital status

3% or less of reported moves were due to foreclosure, school, loss of job, or retirement.

The most recent survey of this type was conducted in March of 2009. The June survey received very different responses. In March over 40% of reasons for moving were due largely in part to the recession.
