Parade and Festival mark the start of the Holidays in La Jolla
A wonderful holiday tradition takes place on Sunday, December 7 in the village of La Jolla. The 51st annual La Jolla town Council Christmas Parade will beckon the locals from the nearby hills and beaches to ring in the holiday season. The theme of this year's parade is "History on Parade," in recognition of the importance of the La Jolla's rich history and tradition. The parade will run from Girard Ave. to Prospect Street to Draper Avenue and kick-off at 2 PM.
The parade will be feature 5 Marshalls. Grand Marshall for this year is Ellen Revelle. Military Marshall is Carl Dustin. Education Marshall is the Headmaster of the Bishop's School, Michael Teitelman. The Civic Marshall is Robert Collins, and the Goodwill Marshalls are Mary Coakley and Louis Guassac.

Five individuals and organizations will be honored as "Legends of La Jolla"; The Athenaeum, the La Jolla Music Society, the La Jolla Historical Society, Dodo Cheyne and Mike Hynson.

At the conclusion of the parade, the festivities continue at the La Jolla Holiday Festival at the La Jolla Recreation Center at 615 Prospect Street. Light refreshments, games along with photos with Santa Claus will be featured.

The day will conclude with the light of the village Christmas tree located at the corner of Prospect Street and Draper Avenue.
