Author Speculates if Aging Baby Boomers will Alter Housing Trends
Matt Thornhill, co-author of the book "Boomer Consumer: Ten New Rules for Marketing to America's Largest, Wealthiest, and Most Influential Group" predicts that boomers will be a growth industry for the next two decades.
Matt Thornhill makes the following predictions for the next 20 years:
Pods - these one-bedroom add-ons which are wired and plumbed to the main house will become popular with families with older members.
Aging Baby Boomers will opt to renovate their existing homes in order to make them safer and comfortable as they progress in age.
Baby Boomers will shift their preferences from suburban to city living.
The influence of Boomers on neighborhoods which have good access to shopping and other goods and services will see the building of additional retirement and intergenerational living options.
