A report of home sales in Las Vegas says that 9 homes that were priced at over a million dollars sold this past January, and increase of 33% over the same month in 2009. Simultaneously, luxury home inventory declined to just over 550 from January, 2009's over 800. This decline in inventory is possibly partly due to the fact that homes that had been priced at one million dollars are presently valued at half of that amount of even less. For example, a home that had been listed in January of 2009 for fourteen million dollars sole this past January for seven million dollars.
Meanwhile, those of us who are fortunate enough to live in San Diego must remember to be thankful for that fact. I keep getting weather reports and beautiful (from indoors by the fire, I'm sure) photos of snow-laden trees and buried cars e-mailed to me from family members who live in the Washington, D.C. area. As I look out of my open office window at the bright blue sky and feel the warm 70 degree breeze, I cannot help gloating just a bit via my e-mails back to them. No wonder so many people want to live here.
