POSSIBLE UCSD SCHOOL OF LAW ON HORIZON
This past January, the University of California San Diego and the California Western School of Law made an announcement that they had formed a joint committee of representatives from both institutions to give consideration to a possible link that could lead to a connection between the two establishments by the founding of a UCSD School of Law.

The committee will investigate how the two schools might build on their present strong points, augment other areas of academia and fashion distinctive, sophisticated areas of investigation in law, technology and science.

Some of the possibilities include the integration of present faculty members of the California Western School of Law, along with the hiring of new instructors.

The plan is for the new School of Law would support itself permanently. There would be the creation of a way in which the conversion of the present California Western School of Law into the UCSD School of Law would be relatively effortless. The hope is that the new school would draw the best and brightest students.

As to when this school may begin to function, estimates have been given that range from the latter part of 2011 to two years or longer.
