Well, once again we nearly lost the fire rings on the beaches that make the bonfires possible. However, as once before, they were saved just in the nick of time.
Along with a non-profit organization and individual donors, over $120,000 was given to save the fire pits for the next fiscal year, which starts on the first of July.
The largest donation, $90,000, was made by the San Diego Foundation, a non-profit organization. They also aided an anonymous donor's contribution in 2008 that stopped, for the time being, the taking away of San Diego's more than 180 bonfire rings. At present, it is not known if an anonymous donor took part in this latest donation.
The fire rings can be found in Ocean Beach, Mission Bay, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and La Jolla Shores, so start making plans for some good times around a beach bonfire with some good friends. Enjoy!
