SAGA OF LA JOLLA SEALS CONTINUES
At a meeting of the San Diego City Council on Monday evening, May 17, that brought in over five hundred people and that lasted over four hours, a plan which allows for the installation of a temporary rope barrier at the La Jolla Children's Pool in order to keep the public a safe distance from the seals was approved by a vote of six to two.

In addition, the plan states that the City should obtain a permit that would allow the rope to be kept up permanently and prohibit people from the La Jolla beach area while the seals are in their pupping season. New signage would be installed as well. Dogs would be banned from the area at all times.

Also approved was the creation of a position for a Park Ranger who would watch over the area.

The next step is for Mayor Jerry Sanders to declare a state of emergency in order for the barrier to be set up.
