SAN DIEGO AREA SHOWS GROWTH OF JOBS
The unemployment rate in San Diego County dropped during this past April to the lowest number in a year with the hiring of new employees by the hotel, restaurant and construction businesses. Also figuring into the number of new hires was the U.S. Census Bureau, which provided temporary jobs for several hundred workers.

The unemployment rate in the County was down from 11% last March to 10.4% in April. Sixteen hundred jobs were created as shown by data from the California Employment Development Department. Jobs have now been added for four consecutive months in the state as well as the County.

While over fourteen thousand new employees were hired in California, the jobless rate did not change from the March, 2010 number of 12.6%. Fifty-six thousand new jobs were filled in the state, which includes twelve thousand four hundred in the County.

In addition to the increase in hiring by the Census Bureau, business are beginning to discover that that they might have pushed production to its' limits during the past year, which means that they will need to employ new workers in order to respond to the demands of their customers.

California is beginning to show indications of recovery following over 2 years of recession, according to one economist. He believes that this is a very positive trend and that things are looking up.

San Diego County was portrayed as being a quite strong economy in California, and just behind the San Francisco area for prospective job increases in the future. However, things may begin to slow a bit both statewide and in the County when the Federal Stimulus Programs begin to expire during the remainder of 2010.
