Just over 3,880 houses were sold in the area during this past June contrasted with just over 3,690 sold in June of last year.
San Diego County's median home price in June was $335,500, while it was just a bit over $314,200 during the same month in 2009.
As for the Southern California Region, which includes San Diego, Riverside and Orange counties, there were 23,870 homes were sold during June. These sales included new and resale single-family houses and condominiums. These sales topped May sales by 7.2 % and those of June of last year by 2.6 %. Sales in all of Southern California during this past June were at their highest number since a year ago July.
The Southern California area's median price of a home during June was $300,00, which is lower by 1.6 % in the preceding month, but higher by just over 13 % from the $265,000 of June of last year.
According to a representative from a data-gathering company, the real estate market was way out of whack this time last year. Now it's just a bit out of whack.
There still seems to be a lot of bargain-hunters out there, while there doesn't seem to be much optional buying. The most influential concerns are obtaining financing and the interest rates for mortgages. While rates may be at record-setting lows, obtaining a mortgage is now more difficult as the qualifications are more stringent.
