La Jolla's Mt Soledad Veterans Memorial 2010
There is a special place on La Jolla real estate called the Mt. Soledad, Veterans Memorial. The spot as most residents of San Diego know is located at the top of Mt Soledad and has also been located at the top of the legal challenges of the placement of a Cross public property. That all seems settled now as a group of veterans have purchased the property and continued to build the memorial to US service veterans.

The famous lookout affords views of the La Jolla Coast, Pacific Beach and Mission Bay, and Pt. Loma, Downtown and Coronado to the south, North up the coast to Del Mar, Solana Beach, Carlsbad and all the way to Dana Point and Santa Catalina to the west on a clear day, to the east UTC, University City, MCAS Miramar, Scripps Ranch, Poway, Rancho Bernardo and stretching to the pine covered Mountains on the horizon.

Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 12 noon the annual "Veterans Day Ceremony" is scheduled for the Memorial. There will be the presentation of a Plaque which will honor Michael Monsoor, Navy SEAL and the recipient of nation's highest award for bravery in combat The Congressional Medal of Honor. The ceremony's keynote speaker will be RADM Edward Winters, who is the Commander, Naval Special Warfare Command.
