Don't let the holidays put off selling your Home!
Have you been worried about trying to sell your home this time of year? It is intuitive that people are distracted with their holiday shopping, and travel, cooking and all the good family times during December. Home shopping is probably not at the top of the list. Wait a minute; have you held an open house during this wonderful holiday season? Most any experienced Realtor will know that if people come to visit an open house or call about a home they have found on the web or driven by THEY ARE SERIOUS about buying. For example if you get an offer to purchase your Scripps Ranch property, be ready to respond quickly, because you are probably going to have a short reply time. The holiday home buyer may be hoping to find a place to purchase before year end for tax reasons, or another reason that he is serious and needs a quick response.

So which homes sell during the holiday season? The answer is probably what you think it is: the best priced, most appealing home. This maybe a good time to have your realtor take you to look at the competition. (The competition being the comparable homes in La Jolla, or UTC, Del Mar or your specific San Diego neighborhood) You want your home to have the most appeal amongst the competitors. Curb appeal is always important, but during this highly competitive time, be very conscious of how the house looks from the street as well as inside. Ruth Mills provides her clients a Home staging professional to consult with you. You will also not want your holiday decorations to over-shadow the home, or the yard.

Home buyers during this happy time of year may not be as plentiful as other times, but they generally are more motivated and ready to buy.
