Perhaps the biggest change for home PC users will be the introduction of web based operating systems and applications that will be affordable. This means no more application software on your hard drive someday soon.
Speaking of Hard drives, the mechanically rotating media will start to disappear in 2011, as the solid-state hard drives become more available at lower prices. This maybe one of the biggest advances in PC technology, but for a year or two you'll find these hard drives only with smaller capacities and much higher prices.
The "Line in the Sand" has already been drawn between Google and Facebook - look for exciting competition between the two leading to some pretty exciting new products for all of us.
Finally 3D TV while it is expensive (i.e. $300 for each extra set of 3D glasses) and technically not perfect (i.e. viewing angle is restrictive), for the fanatical sports fan it may be a must have by the next NFL season.
iPad and iPhone imitators will abound in 2011, but will still be imitations. Look for Verizon to find a way to work with Apple and iPhone. For business RIM's Blackberry phones will still dominate, but with Verizon coverage iPhone could deal a major blow to both Android powered phones and the Blackberries market share.
Watch for VOIP to surge in 2011 as Fiber-optic cable brings wider bandwidth and competition between the major providers brings prices down.
